What Are You Using in Place of Algae Wheel Grazers?

Okay,so I am nearing the end of my 1.8kg bucket of New Era mini marine algae wheel grazers which have lasted me over a year. New Era as a company is gone. There is no product on the market. And I have no idea when the new company/a different company will be producing the same or similar product.

What is everyone feeding in place of the algae wheels? Multiple feedings per day pellet? Frozen? Auto feeder?

Ah, that's too bad. Nearing the end of my tub also and didn't realize they were no longer available. Nori suffices.

I can put out more nori for the tangs but my Jansens wrasse will lose out as he doesn't go after the nori but loves the algae wheel.

Assume you've looked around for any old stock? One of my LFS used to carry it, will have to check with them.

Okay I did some digging and the mini grazers are available under the new company Vitalis in Canada. I went through Pets & Ponds for the 1.7kg bucket and they ship to the US.

Not sure when or under what name the US distributor is going to market under. The US distributor is aquatechco.com

Apparently New Era was being sued over trademarks on the name. And a new company was formed. They are supposed to have separate company names in Europe and the US going forward. Remember New Era was a UK company.

Never heard of this product but I don't specifically feed algae to the tank. There seems to be enough on the rocks to keep everyone healthy

Yes to all of this. We used to use a lot of New Era at work (8mm Marine pellet and 1.5mm Algae pellet), distributed by AquatechCo. Supposedly AquatechCo is going to produce/distribute their own version of the products (starting with the grazer wheels), but they have been unable to get a product out...

I wonder then if the new UK companies are going to market in the US and compete with AquatechCo or if AquatechCo licensed from them to make their own product. Some competition and extra choices are always great. In the meantime I ordered a new bucket of wheels from Canada. Came out to about $127 US with shipping. That will last about 14 months for me.
