What bulb/bulbs do better in keeping neon pink mille neon pink?

I don't want to start a debate here, just want to know people's experience about how they are able to keep and maintain a neon pink mille color.

let us assume idea tank parameters since I think higher PO4 levels would brown out the pink color. (But correct me if I am wrong:beer:)

Will T5 or MH keep the color neon pink mille better? :reading:

Thanks

T5's is your best bet and the coral should be under a mixture of a KZ Fiji and a blue bulb. This combo will really bring out the colors in yoru red/pink sps.

Here is one of mine under this combo

I have tried pretty much everything and the 10000k MH wins. My pink millies and red acros were crazy colorful under the 10000k. Not the greatest for anything else in the tank though.

no fan of heavy blue here

no fan of heavy blue here

warmer lighting (lower kelvin) accentuates all reds

400w 14k Ushio over this one

+1 Awesome combo.. I use it myself.. Here'a a shot of my super pink and Tyree pink birdsnests under this Combo.. Not a Millies, but same principle.. notice the pop of the greens as well.

Either MH or T5 will do the trick for you..

Thanks all for your time and reply, but Hmmmm,

So far I am leaning towards T5 since it appears lower kelvin bulbs are needed to bring out the red/pink in MH. However, that would make my tank look a little to yellow without Actinic supplementation.

Any other input?

Not true.
Lower kelvin (warmer color lighting) accentuates reds no matter what lighting format is chosen but lower kelvin isn't necessary in halide format to accentuate reds. You can grow pinks with Radiums ;)
Heavy blue lighting (no matter what format) can skew reds to violet- that's why a lot of pink corals appear purplish under lower kelvin (blue) lighting.

14k Ushio and URI actinics. No zeo.

I've run both T5'S and MH'S IME you can "tweak" the colors of the corals better with T5's. Switch a bulb here and there in a 6-10 bulb combo and you have a different look. Don't get me wrong 20K radiums is a very nice bulb but with T5's you have more options. If I had to do my current set up over again I'd go with T5's. The ATI Power Module being my first choice.

I cant stand all these extreme blue setups with their photoshoped pics. Colors are much healthier and more vibrant under much more natural settings. I have seen many of both in person and I have to say the 14-16k tanks look much more healthy and colorful than the 18-20k tanks that are all washed out in blue when you look at them.

Sweet achilles, was aclimation an issue?

Maybe i missed it, but what are you running right now? you can always add a bulb like a KZ FP to supplement a MH setup. Actinic white will also highlight pinks and reds, but i think the KZ looks better.

I have been running on PFO HQI 400w ballasts--2 400w Radiums and 4 48" VHO super actinics.--Maybe I am getting tired of the blue lighting and not seeing much result with colors I like.

I am leaning towards ATI powermodule to try to get lighter colors of pink.

Just in case, my PO4 is 0.03 with the new ultra low range Hanna Meter.

Thanks
