What cause my clown's death?

I lost an ocellaris today that I've had for over a year. Last night, both my occ. were just fine. Both ate normally. I haven't seen any signs of disease. I found him upside down on the sand about an hour ago. His stomach was bloated, and I could see no signs of physical damage. The gills seemed fine, also. Does anyone know what this could be? I tried to take pictures, but they were blurry. I don't want to lose the rest of my fish. Thanks

What did his "poop" look like? Was it stringy and long..brown and firm..or other?

Thanks,

Were both clowns the same size? If they were they may have had some issues overnight fighting over dominance. I had that happen to one of my clowns and it was interesting because I didn't see any signs of scars or anything. Definitely keep an eye on your tank to make sure there is nothing else going on in your tank.

They were not the same size. The one I lost was definitely the male. They fought at first, but that was over a year ago. They had been getting along since then. None of my other fish(occ, diamond watchman, eibli angel) seem to have any visible damage.
