what did everyone catch this summer in the long island sound?

Hi Paul,

All the puffers we caught today were the Northerns, no bandtails. The pipefish ranged in size from very small to full grown at close to a foot in size. The catch list included (in addition to what Chris already listed) Northern Sennet, one small Cobia, bunker, herring, snappers, permit, jacks and couple of very small fish that I think were jacks, but too small to be 100% sure.

The Permit is interested in the flakes but just spits them back out. Good sign atleast The puffers are just hanging out and havent figured out they cant swim thru the glass LOL There just going up and down in the tank. Havent even tried to feed the pipes yet. Im sure they wont eat yet anyway! My eels appreciated the nice fresh silversides

Watch the puffers, besides ich, they will most likely chew on just about anything or anyone just for the fun of it.

Cyclop Eeze for the ponies and pipes. Don't waste time, start target feeding them ASAP, they may respond.

Chris I have about 12 or 13 weeks. I put my papers in in two weks and I will find out the exact day.
I used to keep those puffers all the time as a kid.
I have not seen one in 40 years. They used to be the only fish we could catch in the Sound. Ther were all over the place under the Whitestone bridge but they disappeared to be replaced by those annoying little wrasses. I even forgot their name.
Pipes I always used to collect but ar the time I couldn't feed them.
I am surprised you diden't get any of those frogfish. Theyre not really frog fish but they look like them. I also forget their name. It's fun getting old and you can't remember a name:eek1:

Thanks for the warning Joe i will keep a look out for any damage. I have no SPS so i figured i was safe. Hmm
Larry i have to go buy some but will do that today. I figured they wouldnt eat anyway after the stressful day.

Paul im jealous! I cant wait till i can retire. Only about another 23 years

Im burnt but functional Back of my very white legs are nice and red too Sounds like you got it worse than me!
