Yesterday I finally made cuts to my biocube to hang the aquamaxx hob-1 and put my afs on the tank. Next weekend is wiring the leds into the apex and finishing the ATO

Here is the AFS mounted to the front of the hood:

Nothing to say about this for the most part as it is pretty straight forward. I did however go in and code for my pumps and skimmer to turn off when I enter feed mode.

Aquamaxx HOB-1:

OK this was a pain to install. I had a few obstacles to overcome. First and foremost it will not fit without a good chunk of the hood cut out. In this pic you can see that I removed the rear door and the cuts I had to make:

I have the intake drawing from the first chamber and the output back onto the top of the intank media rack. This results in zero bubbles PLUS it is dead silent.

So I finished transferring my anemones over to my new bta flat I built a couple weeks ago.

20 minutes later I tore the Meniscus in my left knee clean in half after putting some temporary covers on the drains. Anyways I never did get around to finishing the return line because I have to get behind the tank to do so and I can't walk so that isn't going to happen.

Last night about 230am the power went out. No problem, vortechs are all on battery backup and the system drains just fine. So I said to myself "its fine don't get up". So about 10 minutes later I am thinking about it... I've never turned the system off since adding the bta tank and the return HOSES! CRAP, they aren't at the surface, it was supposed to be temporary and in the whole ordeal with my knee I forgot to at least adjust them.

So here I am at 2:45 am, standing in water on crutches, no power, had surgery on friday, and the bta tank is half empty. I ignored the water on the floor, went to the garage, looked at the generator and realized there was no physical way to get it outside and started. I grab a power inverter, clamped it onto the battery of my jeep, and start her up. The power truck drives by at this time so I know its coming on soon, no worries, just gotta get water back into the tank.

Slowly but surely (the inverter wouldn't run the pump properly) it pumped water back into the tank. Once full I shut down and went to sit on the couch and ice my knee. At 4am the power came back on. Everything was fine. I never cleaned up the water, its a concrete floor. I just put a fan on it...

So what did I do today? What I had to.

Bought a new sicce syncra 2 to replace the sicce multi quiet return pump. Hope this new one is as dead silent as the last.

Was that name on purpose? In another time and place, "triad" meant something else :lmao:

Just the name of the store. has to do with the area....:spin1:

The Piedmont Triad (or simply the Triad) is a north-central region of the U.S. state of North Carolina that consists of the area within and surrounding the three major cities of Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and High Point.

I run 2 x proton 36, I love them, they are a great middle of the road light system, they light up my tank beautifully, will be even better when I get the tank boxed in.
