What disease is this?

The Purple Tang is about 9 cm (including tail). These white spots are from <1mm to almost 3mm in size, and they all stand out like little bubbles.

I am 99% sure this is not Ich. It started when the Tang was severely stressed.

Any ideas?

I have already posted about this but this time have a better (more developed) photo.

It might be bacterial. I agree it does not look like ich and its doesn't quite look like Lymphocystis either.

I'm betting Marine Velvet. The treatment would be copper, among others. First thing I'd do is catch fish and qt while waiting for other responses, since this is going to need treatment.

Nah, it's not velvet. Velvet is real small and very faint/hard to see. It gives the fish a dusty appearance. This is much too large.

The fish is already in QT ;)

Well that's a first!! Good going. Most people throw em in the main tank, infect everything else and THEN wonder what to do and how to treat.

Tang

Hi I know I'm reviving an old post here but my purple tang has the exact same problem. I don't think it's ich, did you ever figure it out or find a cure? Mine is getting worse has gone from 1 spot to 6 to about 10 now.

I have been having a really hard time finding help on this one. Thanks
