ok heres the story I just set up a new 70 gallon aquarium with two gold stripe clowns 4 four stripe damsels. everything is doing good but im just found an aptasia on a piece of my live rock. Im not quite sure why these are bad but ive never heard anything good about them. I need a surefire way of getting rid of it before it gets out of control.
please help.

Inject it with joes juice or a thick kalk paste. I've never had any before, but that's what I always read.

I don't know if you dose kalkwasser or not, but you can get 'pickling lime' at hy-vee for less than $3. It's the same thing as the expensive aquarium products (calcium hydroxide).

If it is on a rock that you can easily remove, take the rock and burn the aptasia with a cigarette lighter or propane torch (on low). That is THE most reliable way to get rid of pest anemones IMO. Its a lot easier to kill one now than to fight several later.

If taking the rock out is not an option kalk paste will work (though sometimes it takes a couple of applications) and some peppermint shrimp will eat them.

yeah they sting other corals and are a HUGE PITA!! Do some research there are two types of peppermint shrimp and one kind eats them and another kind does not ...
