What do u dip ur zoa and plays in?

rogergolf66

im an addict lol
Title says it all. Ordered 19 different frags that r going to be here wed. I want to dip them I have used a fresh water dip with flat worm exit. What do u think is best?

Roger

I have dipped the last few frags I got at swaps in Bayer as that is what I use for SPS and LPS so I just toss them in along with them. Some even stayed open in the milky white dip. That being said, although Bayer seems to kill all kinds of crustaceans, worms, starfish, AEFW and stomatella snails I don't know for sure if it kills
zoanthid eating nudibranchs as fortunately I haven't had any hitchhike in. I am mainly dipping the zoanthids to prevent hitchhikers that would harm my SPS and LPS.

Tell me more about this Bayer dip. Do u mean asperin? How long and how much

No. The Bayer dip is the Bayer Complete Insect Killer from Home Depot or Loews. I too am using it exclusively now. I know......bug killer on coral. I read and read and read some more. And then slowly tested my corals over a long period. I started slow and worked up through everything......

I have now tested everything I own repeatedly. Z&P.....SPS...many kinds of LPS.....softies......acans.....favia....acanthophelia.....all of it. I have not once had a bad result. No damage. Often the SPS never retracts it's polyps as it's being dipped.

I have read many recipes and dip times. Etc. What I have narrowed it down to is that I use 2.5 ml to 2c of tank water. I dip for 8-10 minutes although have done up to 15 with no ill effects. Then I do a quick dip/rinse in clean tank water and replace the coral in my tanks.

I do this with all new corals coming in. Obviously this will not kill anything in the tank like a tank dosing would. But it is an easy way to make sure nothing is going in.

I have seen this kill everything I've ever seen. Acro worms...Red bugs....all the nasties. I have repeatedly dipped with Coral Rx and Revive.....to see what comes off....then do a dip in the Bayer....more has come off every single time.

I am sold. It is also incredibly cheap. More than you will ever use is about $12 at Home Depot. It needs to be the Bayer Complete Insect Killer Concentrate. There is a Ready to Use but the concentration is different and I can not speak to dosing or effectiveness.

I had several SPS that had never polyped at all. After dipping in the Bayer....they all polyped within an hour or up to about 24 hours later. I don't know why. Many others have reported the same thing.

I just used regular drinking water. Killed a lot of nudis for me. Is regular water bad?

Well a fresh water dip is ok but u should use Rodi water. I'm on city water so my tap water has chlorine in it. That is very bad. If u r on well water it may be ok but who knows what is in the water

Personally I dip mine in a light peroxide dip, rinse in tub of regular saltwater, then dip in an iodine dip, then rinse again before mine go in my tank. Those generally clear any unwanted organisms and stray algae that might come on them.

Bayer Bayer Bayer!

Nothing goes into my Tank Before Getting an Aggressive Bayer Dip.

You can even Dip Acros that are said to die when using other Dips with No Problems such as Red Dragon.

1. It is the Least Stressful and Most Effective Dip for Corals by Far.
2. It Kills Everything.
3. It is the Cheapest Dip out there by far.

3 Reasons why there is NO Reason NOT to Use Bayer!

P.S. Furan-2 For Zoa POX.

Bayer is the future, in all honesty every response on here that doesn't say "Bayer" is just someone who hasn't tried it yet. There is no comparison with either effectiveness, price or not stressing corals at all, nothing else even comes close just make sure to let your colonies soak in tank water for a bit after the dip to clear any leftovers.

I bought 4 different zoa frags from vividaquariums last week and dipped them in CoralRX for 15 minutes than I put them on another container than slowly added to tank.... believe it or not but all 4 frags where almost fully open that day and the next day all where open 100%. I love coralRX been working great for me.

So True.

I really do not know why everyone has not caught on to this yet?

Because we get drowned out by people who have not tried Bayer and are suggesting other things. Those people need to try Bayer that way we're not debating whether a car or a bike is a more efficient way to travel.

People: a car is more efficient. I know you like your bikes because you already own one, but cars are the future, get on board and start giving out better advice because most of the stuff listed in this thread doesn't even kill nudis and some of it stresses zoanthids so bad that it'll cause infections. How are people still even suggesting freshwater dips in this day and age? If you are giving out advice to people who are new then it is your responsibility to be as informed as possible on the best and most efficient products and techniques in order for the hobby to move forward. Go buy some Bayer, you owe it to yourself and you owe it to the hobbyists who think the number of posts suggesting something is related to how useful that thing is.
