What do u dip ur zoa and plays in?

Because we get drowned out by people who have not tried Bayer and are suggesting other things. Those people need to try Bayer that way we're not debating whether a car or a bike is a more efficient way to travel.

People: a car is more efficient. I know you like your bikes because you already own one, but cars are the future, get on board and start giving out better advice because most of the stuff listed in this thread doesn't even kill nudis and some of it stresses zoanthids so bad that it'll cause infections. How are people still even suggesting freshwater dips in this day and age? If you are giving out advice to people who are new then it is your responsibility to be as informed as possible on the best and most efficient products and techniques in order for the hobby to move forward. Go buy some Bayer, you owe it to yourself and you owe it to the hobbyists who think the number of posts suggesting something is related to how useful that thing is.

I like that comparing a Car to a Bike.

You say some Dips cause infections in Zoanthids.

Which Dips do that?

What type of Infections do they cause? (Fungal, Bacterial, etc.)

As everybody has already said bayer. Anything new to my system gets a bayer dip! We spend too much on this hobby to do anything the cheap way. I do however use peroxide dipping for zoa that don't look too good. It seems to bring them back to life after that

What is the appropriate mix for Bayer and salt water for dip

It's so forgiving of a dip it dosnt mater much. I just poor some in. The only thing I don't like about bayer is water is so cloudy after its hard to inspect the for pests that may have came off during the dip. But yes it works well and is cheep

ahah! I used the bayer advance Home pest plus germ killer when I wanted to watch the AEFW's squirm and choke to death. It mixes and kills clear!!! Both work just as good and others here have seen the same results.

I just went to my first frag swap so it is the first time I've purchased something not from the shop down the street. One of the gentlemen suggested the Bayer Dip, how long should I do it? I'm totally new to this fascinating hobby and can see it spending all my money so I want to do it correctly. Is just one dip sufficient?

Right now I have them in a tank that had no corals in it yet. So it is my QT. How long do these guys need to be in that tank before I can put them in my display? Do I dip before and after QT?

Thanks

Probably 30 Days in QT if you do not look for eggs.

I don't have a qt tank but after I Dip I look for Eggs with a High Powered Hand Held Microscope for Coins.

I then look weekly for pests just in case.

No Problems so far with that.

I do not have a QT tank. If I do a Bayer dip would it be fine to follow up with 2 saltwater dips before putting the coral in the display? My zoas used to open up perfectly but now only one out of 6 opens up at all and even it doesn't look the best. I can't see any pests in there and I'm trying to find ways to help bring them back.

Bayer might not help with this issue. Bayer is a pesticide, you might wanna try a peroxide and or an iodine dip, I have had good luck with them when my zoa don't look that good. And with in a few hrs they start to come back to life.

+1 for Bayer. I use 5ml to 1/2 cup of water for small frags. 10 minute with vigorous rinsing with a syringe to dislodge anything. Then 30+ minutes in a large Tupperware of tank water to dilute away any remaining Bayer. Corals show no averse effects and it kills anything with a nervous system...
