What do you acrylic guys use to sand out scratches?

picture.php

depends on how deep the scratches are....this was badly scratched by puffers so i started w/600g-800-1000g steel wood-1200g-then up in 200grit papers till scratches were gone

They are'nt as bad as those or as many. I tried 2000 grit sand paper on my cover and it made hazey. Is there a higher number I should use?

Try Micro-Mesh available at www.micro-surface.com and look for kit # NC-78-1 which will have everything the master kit (kit # MA-1) will have, just smaller pieces. The kit goes up to 12000 grit abrasive cloth and works quite well. I use it all the time, never a problem with it - just tedious after a while.

Sadly, I have lots of experience on this one. I found the easiest way to do it was to glue the various meshes to velcro and then use the aquarium magnets to run the mesh. This is when the tank is full. Start with smallest # grit and work your way up. Don't be alarmed at first. You'll think you just ruined your tank because it will look totally frosted. As the grit gets finer, the frost goes away. Be patient and keep with the sequence (don't skip grits). Also, go in opposite directions with each new grit.
the micro mesh link is a good one.

Good luck.
