What do you feed a new 10" personifer ?

Is it sad that I know someone is playing Celine Dion's "My Heart will go on" from Titanic in that video? :)

I have a true and false personifer. They feed most aggressively when I put in blood worms. Long time ago, occasionally my personifer would skip feed a day. When it would ignore mysis, the second I put in blood worms, it would go wild for it.

He ignore the blood worm its the very first one that I offer.

Attempt them again, Lawrence. Often times the initial reaction, early on in the acclimation process, isn't necessarily the standard ...

More importantly, it is of my opinion/experience these finicky angels require more natural, semi-cryptic conditions in order to facilitate their acclimation process. It would do your C. meridithi a world of good to be placed in his own special quarters, possibly with one other passive, docile fish which is feeding well and interacts with the C.m positively

Peter. He's not eating Mysis currently, I doubt the Jumbo variety is going to change that fact/situation ...

Note, Bloodworms are a delicacy to most fishes and are excellent for pigmentation.

Try LIVE artemia, or preferably L Mysis if you have the connections to source it, at this point in the process to entice the fish to feed. It's been a while now and everyday is crucial to its short term survival.

I'd seriously consider the above recommendation for private quarters as well.

Mine like them more than other mysis types/brands, so thought I'd throw it out there. I'm really not interested in playing the you shot down my suggestion so I need to shoot down yours game.

Are you thinking of blackworms? I've never heard of bloodworms considered a delicacy for marine fish.

Lawrence what a stunning specimen!!! First off you are on the right track. Feed shredded clam to him. The best way to get then to eat other things is to freeze the clam and then shred it on a cheese grater. Then take the pieces and mix in some pellet and mysis and other food. He will eat it all and acquire the the taste for other foods over time. My conspic and my true personified were both that way. I had to feed them a constant diet of clam but added in other foods to get them used to eating out if the water column. I bet you within 4 weeks that bad boy will eat anything offered.

Thanks guys
He loves the mussels in the clam shell
I wish my Red Sea regal is as aggressive eater.

You and John ( copps) are always inspiration to me.

No games, Peter ... Come on now, lets put egos aside here, it's a discussion not a contest ... Meant to be informative for all the others who come across it.

Besides, I don't know about you but Id personally rather have the aforementioned specimen begin feeding from someone elses excellent/well informed/experienced recommendation, as that would help solidify another technique I may possibly not be familiar with ...

No, bloodworms. Many species relish this "treat", Peter, you should look into it as a supplementary food source.

Take care,

I really don't see any ego involved with not recommending bloodworms to the OP as a food for this angel. I don't think insect larvae are worth the trouble, if the fish isn't interested in them. If you disagree, that's fine :)

I did recommend a food that both of my meredithis seems to prefer over other foods... if the OP chooses to try that food now or later is up to him. That's all. You take care as well.

My 9" blueline loves large Hikari Mysis, He will not bother with the small Hikari most of the time but goes nuts over the big ones.

Thank you sir
If everything went well I will venture to your favorite
Butterfly next year or so.
Maybe start with declivis and semilarvatus ?

Good choices, though I'm hating my semilarvatus right now because he has decided that my fasciatus cannot be in the same tank :(

BTW it's really great you got this big boy eating at least something. From what I've read, very large chaetodontoplus angels often refuse all food in captivity, and can be tricky even when smaller!

Can similar techniques be used on dwarf angels as well? I read through this out of curiosity with me having a dwarf that refuses to eat after 2 months in my care (it ate at the retailer, go figure). Starting to see what I think is HLLE, so I'm getting quite worried.
