I am selling my saltwater fish tank I believe, because I have to move soon, and I'm getting out of college so I have to be able to go anywhere. Obviously I will pick the hobby back up after I get established, but for now I need to put my Ocean on pause.
I was wondering if you guys can tell me what you think a fair price is for my tank, I would like to sell it fairly quickly, but still get a good value out of it.

It has the following things.

29G Acrylic tank with 2-65W Pc's

Drilled with bulkheads going down to a inline filter system.

Seaclone Skimmer

20+ pounds of live rock.

2 sets of Zoo's, Waving hands, Green Star Polyps, Sun Coral, 2 Leathers, Candy Cane.
1 Red Male Fire fish, 2 Ocellaris Clownfish, and 1 mandarin Goby
Invertebrates, snails crabs etc..

I am planning on throwing in this filter as well, a Via Aqua

Hmm nothing? Hopefully the night crew will have an idea of what the value of this set up is. I really don't know and I don't know.

honestly, it's not the most technically worthy system. in my opinion, most of the value in a tank comes from it's most expensive components, such as lights (MH), chillers, skimmers, etc. You have a sea clone skimmer, which is not such a great skimmer (in my opinion, one of the worst actually), and the via aqua isn't really a very good filter (although it may have served your purposes).

I think the items of most value in your tank are the drilled tank itself, and the live rock. the 2x 65 pc fixture isn't bad, but a new fixture doesn't even cost all that much. Maybe 300 bucks for the whole shebang? That might even be too much. This stuff doesn't appreciate well. I've dropped a good 3 gees on the equiptment and if I had to sell I wouldn't expect to get back even 1000. I have a ton of good live stock but even that isn't worth so much to an LFS.

I sold my 29 system with 175 metal halide and 10 gallon sump for 450. That was minus the liverock. Just something to go by. I like your aquascaping bye the way.

YA that's what I figured that it would be $800-$300. Now the question is where should I try to sell it at. The inline filter system is what will be going with it, the via Aqua is just a bonus filter. It's in Muncie IN, 1 hour from Indianapolis. So if you guys have any idea on where to sell it that would be really helpful.

I would suggest offering it up to the local reefers. There are several forums for local clubs that cover the midwest (Illinois, Indiana). Post a thread there.

Also, you could try CraigsList. That may not work too well...but it is free and takes little time.

Good luck. It is a nice set-up.

I wish there was a paper for students to post for sale items. I know I am going to really miss this tank once it's gone, but I plan on going really really big for my next tank so I will have that to look forward to.

If you part it about figure around 1/2 retail.

If you sell it as one unit figure 1/3 retail.
