What do you think of these PPE zoos?

Those are not PPE's. Wholesellers have been listing them as PPE's which is
definitely misleading.
They do not have the green mouths that are characteristic of PPE's.
A lot of those have been coming in recently.
I've seen them at a LFS for 60-100 for a colony w/ 60 polyps+.

Then what are those with the orange skirt? Do PPE have to have green mouths? I have been reading on here that they can color up over time, do you think that they might?

PPE's by definition have green mouths.
I doubt these will develope green mouths.
The ones in that ebay auction are pretty common imo.
My LFS has been getting them with every shipment for the past few weeks.

Ask the seller if they have the green mouths.

those are nice, but they aren't ppe's, prpe's or even pe's. they seller is ignorant as to what a ppe is.

His Zero Feedback explains it all. That pic looks like one I saw on fragglereef of some lunars and midnight palys.

wow the guy emailed me back fast. he said that the mouths have a "greenish tinge" on some of them and bluish on the others. he also said that he hasnt had them that long and that he thinks that they will color up real well and that they were sold to him by his supplier as PPE and he trusts them that they will color up.....kinda honest i think, i am going to watch them and see if they bid high or not, but i think they will cause they are pretty

everything he has is ridiculous ...any of those auctions could be had here in the selling forums cheaper... he's trying to take advantage of people

(The ER skimmer he has is waaaayyyy overpriced.)

FYI...this thread will probably get deleted

he has another rock for sale, 159, once again, not ppe's

I wouldn't buy from someone who doesnt care enough about their product to honestly represent it with correct commonly accepted terms.

I'd say they are badly bleached(skirt is almost translucent) and colored with high actinic... but probably PE's.... I doubt distributors label them as anything other than zoanthus. There's a couple vendors that post here.. they should know.

afaik, pe = green slit mouth

those on ebay do not have them.

i also believe wholesalers are labeling thes as "palys" which is incorrect also, but not as blatantly commercial as calling them ppe's

at best the seller is ignorant, at worst dishonest.

Looks like another rock from Extreme Corals.

If you like them, and feel you are getting a good price, buy them. But PLEASE, if you frag them, DO NOT sell them as PPE because they most definitely are not.

Jon

Those have been coming in now for about 3-5 months. I think they are coming from Vietnam. PPE's are tank raised not wild. I had PPE's at one time and I have all of those now and like the color on the wild ones better. I have even been guilty of calling them paly's as I am still unsure about it. IMO these get a dark purple center where as PPE's are bright. The orange ones I have are almost black in the center

My LFS gets them in also as PPE's from the wholeseller.
None of them has ever made slightest move to develping a green mouth.

do PPE have to have green skirts or can they be purple as long as they have green mouths? cause i have had some for years now that have are all purple with green mouths
