What does chaetomorpa grow on?

I was reading another post, and didn't want to hijack it. If you put chaetomorpha in your display, cause you don't have anywhere else( no fuge or sump), what will it attach to? Rock, sand, glass...?

It doesnt attach to anything, thats one of the reasons it works so well in a refug.

It does not attach like the others stated you may want to put it somewhere so it does not just cruz around the tank and may get caught in a pump or something else

I would recomend to use a strwberry carton, put the macro under there with a small piece of rock on top of it to hold the strawberry carton in place.

What about associated pods and infauna you get with refugiums. Seems like not having a substrate in your refugium limits the types of life it will support.

I don't have a refugium or sump. YET. Unfortunately it'll be a long way off. Too much other stuff to get first(like a bigger tank with built in overflows). But since this one is up and running I'm trying to make the best of it. It will be upgraded soon enough. I hope.
