i had this copperband for about a week and this guys looks really healthy but just not eating. when ever i feed my fish he would swim to the food and take a took and swim away. i wondering do they like clam or something.. thankz

UM if you don't have a refugium or about 100lbs of liverock and copepods, amphipods, worms, aptasia, and other creepy things that they eat he will most definitly starve! Yea feeding brine will work as well as some other frozen foods, but for long term healthiness and happiness, lots of LR and a big fuge will do the trick. Keep in mind that you must not have any other fish in the tank that prey on the same things that he eats or they will be competing for food. I guess that would also depend on the tank size, larger is easier IMO when keeping one of the most delicate fish in the ocean! If you can't support him there will be plenty of folks on here that would trade or buy him from you!

Thanks,

Rick

rickkott13,

They do eat meating things in the wild, and will typically not eat food free floating in the water.

A good thing to try is to get a fresh salt water mussell, pry it's shell open a bit (enough so the copper band can get it's snout in) and then attach it to a suction cup near where the copperband frequents... He should eventually find it and start picking at it an eating it.

You can eventually replace that with other prepared food in a empty shell and/or get some kind of feeding device (I used a worm feeder). Works great.

I've had my CB about 10 months now:

Live blackworms enriched with Selcon often works to start. They love worms.
