What does ricordea florida have two mouths mean?

I recently purchased a tri colour ricordea florida which has two mouths. Is it normal to have two mouths? Or is it in the process of splitting?

Yup splitting...can take a while though..I purchased an orange one a few months ago with two mouths aswell...cool looking

Yes, splitting. I actually have one with 4 mouths that is almost done splitting into a pair of two mouth polyps. It has taken about 4 months for it to go from just started to almost finished. It grew quite a bit during that time as well.

Thanks guys. This ric is glued to a frag so i imagine after split they will both still glue to the frag. Wouldnt it then limit their growth since two ric on same frag? What would be the safest way to remove them from frag?

Easiest would be to trim the plug with a pair of dykes and glue/ puddy it to the rock. It will spread as required. If it is already covering the plug than just put it down and let them move on their own.

They don't always stay in the same plug...sometimes they like to float away but if they like they're locationtheyll stay put..is it on a big piece of rock? If not you can try putting some rubble and shells around the ric and hopefully they'll attach to that
