What Dosing system for SPS reef?

I just bought a Neptune DOS and wished I would have gone with a GHL. I love my DOS, especially how it configures with all my Neptune gear but I really think GHL makes a better product.

Ok thanks, I guess DOS is out for sure.

is GHL german made? chinese?

Honestly, save some money and buy the GHL Doser 2. You will not find a better doser for the money. Tech support is great (they have a presence here on RC) and there's a lot happening under the hood of this doser. You can attach a temp probe and there's an expansion port on the back that's going to be implemented in a future firmware update (pH probe and power bar control, etc)
Anyway, it's a brilliant doser, but it's more, much more.
Just my two pennies.

I use the DOS, GLH doser 2.1 and have used BRS pumps.

The DOS and GLS hold their calibration however the BRS changed over time.

If you have Apex and use Fusion, then the Dos is a no brainer. Easiest to set up, enter the time frame you want and the amount to be dosed in that time period and it does the rest of the math for you. With Fusion it has the best cloud system. Great support.

The GLH stand alone is smaller so it takes up less space and gives the option to add probes to it. Pricing is close to the DOS. I got it because it is easier to program a pump to go in reverse after dosing food. Support is getting better. Cloud is OK and requires a PC to set up at first.

If you go with BRS i would plan on replacing the pump tubing every six months. Controlling with a cheap controller is a better option than a timer.

I love my GHL dosers I have 3 of them. They dose all additives to my tank so I don't have too. :) Simple to use with the Phone app and rock solid to run. Small and easy to put inside a stand.

This is not a knock against any other doser, and nothing is 100% fool proof, but to answer your question... it's not the hardware as much as the software/firmware.
If you've been around the forums long enough, you've seen the results of a doser going haywire in the middle of the night.
It's not pretty.

I get what you are saying but this is a complex hobby with all kinds of equipment that could go haywire at any given moment costing you thousands in lost live stock. I've ran a few dosers and a DOS for auto water changes along with a litermeter 3 for auto water changes and haven't had a problem in over 10 years. Chances are no matter what the doser, your gonna count on a controller to alert you of something wrong so you can head off the problem before it's to late.

When I read these it seems to me like the ghl is nice and foreign fancy (the Ferrari) and the DOS is like the American corvette zr1, Ferrari will prolly win by a few fractions of a second but you paid triple so you could be part of the "exclusive" owners club. Both are gonna do what you want reliably with performance but all your really doing is splitting hairs.

Gee! Yes all three with do the job!

BTW while I am a big Apex fan, a stand alone 4 head GHL doser is cheaper than 2 DOS and a two head is less then one DOS. Not triple.

Lol, but can the ghl do auto water changes?

Sorry, but that's a very bad analogy.

DOS - $299 - Needs an Apex
GHL Doser 2 Slave - 2 pumps - $260 - Needs a Profilux
GHL Doser 2 SA - 2 pumps - $305 - No controller needed
GHL Doser 2.1 Slave - 2 pumps - $290 - Needs a Profilux
GHL Doser 2.1 SA - 2 pumps - $340 - No controller needed

Any of these GHL can be bought in 3 or 4 pump versions, or the pumps can be added later.
The GHL's are smaller (especially when you consider you get 4 pumps) and run almost silently.
The 2.1 can run continuously for purposes like AWC.

I'm shooting for sps on my new tank and plan on incorporating a DOS to do auto waterchanges, I'll prolly need to dose a&b as well so maybe I'll try the stand alone ghl for 305 so I can get some ghl experience, how far can they pull/pump fluid?

+1 for liter meter 3 plus the additional pump modules. I've had it for over 10 yrs on my reef and it just keeps doing its thing dosing Alk and CA mixed with topoff water all day every day and it just works. Great reliability over the years.

Kore 5th Starter Edition - 5 channel unit with 0.01ml resolution, option to use it as AWC/ATO.
Digital temp sensor , magnetic stirrer etc.
Original precursor for wireless dosing systems - many ideas was later borrowed by GHL in their ghl doser 2 :-) (even first screens from beta app used the same names/ graphics on some tabs)
And price - 299.00 usd for 5 channel unit(wireless control by native apps for Mac / Windows ) . 2 years full warranty.

What kind of tubing are you guys using for your GHL's? I've been using inexpensive blue silicone tubing that's about $80 for 50 feet. I see some "GHL compatible" tubing on a particular for 80 cents per foot. I need to change all of my lines, any suggestions are appreciated.
