What have you done with your tank lately?

Finally got my refugium cleaned and my calcium reactor working right at 2am. Rewarded for my efforts by a flood at 5am... I fixed the plumbing issues, but still don't know what tripped the GFI which is what started the flood. Taking some some time tonight to gut the whole stand and start fresh.

Ouch!

I have been waiting for my tank water params to be stable a few weeks to finally get a clam. I bought a medium sized derasa clam.

I read that these are the least needy when it comes to light and they are good "beginner" clams.

My params are:
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 5
P04: .033
ALK: 9.3
Ph: 7.99
Mag: 1350
Calcium: 478
SG: 1.025
Temp: 78

Are these sufficient params for the clam? I heard they like nitrates but im feeding Phyto so I'm not so worried about it?

Changed about 12 gallons and razor bladed the glass. Start the timer again and remind me to do it in 4 months ..... :)

Sounds decent but what is Alk?

I started building a stand for my 120. I made it 33" tall, which will allow a little more vertical adjustment space for my skimmer.

Still a lot to do, but it's a start.

Looks good. I don't know how hard it would be for you to do but I would flip the uprights as they aren't crossing the where the ends meet. It would help with twisting and overall strength. The drawing might help explain what I mean.

Thanks for the feedback, I will flip the uprights around.
It will be pretty easy to change, as the build has basically just started.

6 new bulbs and about 3 hrs of trying to figure out this reef angel and still don't have it down..

added a couple CDP frags on PN and a serpent star and melenarius wrasse.

I took Pife's advise and flipped the uprights around.

I also made a little more progress.

The basement floor is so unlevel that a cart will roll across the room on it's own. It drops 1" inch from the wall to the front of the stand.

Cut some shims from 1" to nothing and shim the stand all the way around

I have a 48" shim running across the front of the tank, but the sides are another story. I made shims 1" to nothing form front to back, but the concrete rises in the middle of the run. This floor is a freaking roller coaster.

Do you think it would be adequate to just shim the stand in the middle of the 24" run? All four corners will be solid.

Thanks.

It may work.... But then again it may not. What I would do is get the stand in the perfect spot, then I would trace it on the floor, then I would subfloor glue the floor inside the line pretty heavy then lightly sit the shims on the glue perfect with the lines then lightly set the stand on the shims and level it and let the subfloor glue fill the voids under the shims. But that's just me

The concrete floor is covered with a laminate flooring, so I don't really want to use subfloor glue, but thanks for the suggestion.
