What have you done with your tank lately?

Acid washed my skimmer after a year of use. Sometimes you don't really realize how cruddy stuff gets until you pull it out.:hmm3:

On the 120g SPS tank, cleaned skimmer, changed sponges, added new activated carbon, and tested parameters. Parameters in good shape:

Cal: 430
Mag: 1410
Alk:8.0
SG: 1.026
N03: 8.8
P04: 0.06
Temp:76.5

Added an unusual orangish Favites and a more unusual blue montipora with yellow polyps from Gateway Aquatics today. Saw that Hershel liquidated most of his SPS with Chad:lol:

Really... I'm gonna need to see that!

I've got an auto neck cleaner, but I do reach in and clean what I can reach of the body when I pull the neck cleaner every few weeks. There were just all kinds of tube worms and crop growing lower in the body.

I added two small black ocellaris clowns and several new LPS from the swap! Just ordered new RO/DI filters (they were orange!) plus pods and snails. :bounce3:

Changed RO/DI filters, added new pods/snails, cleaned vortechs, added a bit more (dry/new) sand to DT, bought frozen food at Urzi's, had Gateway check my hydrometer and bought some Doc's from them. Whew! I am beat. Let's see, what else? Oh! Helped Nick set up the 29 so he's officially a reef junkie, too! :love1: It was really difficult but I sat back and let him 'scape it. It's pretty minimal rock work for my taste, but that's how he wanted it. :D It's next to the 120/sump so we'll probably get a Lifereef overflow in the near future... :bounce1:

I added a copule of zoas. Rastas and another small rock with about 10 heads of two different kinds zoas on it. The Rastas have two large polyps and three smaller ones. Lei gave me both for $50. Considering I've seen the Rastas go online and at other stores for $20-30 per polyp, I think I got a good deal.

I also changed out my fuge light. I had the old 48" 4 bulb T5 fixture from my old tank just sitting on top of my sump, with about 18" hanging off one side. Yeah, it looked TOTALLY professional. The only thing growing in the fuge right now is Xenia that I pulled from my display. But when I pulled the T5, they started to die off.

Just picked up a small hang on aluminum light and got a 5000k LED light bulb. Whole thing cost me $25. Now it's time to put some cheato in there.

  • New Clean up crew ships today
  • Picked up Nanooks beast of a skimmer to replace my HOB Skimmer, need to re route some pipe as it is super super super tight in my intake chamber:uhoh3:
  • Water Change on 75 gallon
  • Added 55 gallon water can for fresh RO/DI, just need to get power to it for a heater and powerhead

just finished my bucket free water change and it works great now i just need 2 1/2" electronic solenoids to automate it. 40 gal in 20 min no sweat or buckets. ive been wating for this for a long time lol.

Okay, I'm confused (granted it doesn't take much) but is there such a thing as a 1/2 solenoid?

Im pretty excited to set up automatic water changes as well. Just a couple float switches on the apex should do it.

Just finished water testing the tank I built, feel better now that I know it can hold water...lol

Now we'll see how LONG it holds water...
