Super Housemonkey!
I've been busy over the last few weeks working on rebuilding the 120.
I've had nothing but phosphate issues for years....I was burning through GFO something fierce and doing 50 gallons of water changes on a 250 gallon system every week.
I think I was finally able to trace the phosphates to my Pukani rock. I bought live 12 years ago when Pukani was the hot new thing.........
Drained the 120, removed the rock, and acid washed it all. I've got new rock in the tank and have it aquascaped. I've sold off my Tunze Streams and have purchased MP40's to replace them.
I've also recently set up an algae reactor.
I bought the ARID E18 from Pax-Bellum and have had it running for a week today. Thanks to Aquaman 007 I got some chaeto and its been growing well. Phosphates were at 0.08 last friday. They are down to 0.03 today. Nitrates are undetectable.
I'm planning on filling up the 120 soon and starting the cycle. Once the cycle is completed, I'll be transferring over everything from my 40 breeder and 58 gallon to the 120.
Starting to get ahead of the game now and might actually be able to enjoy this hobby again.
