What have you done with your tank lately?

I just finished mixing the salt.

Refilled my DIY co2 filter with soda lime after my supply finally arrived. Was back ordered a week. Already seeing an increase of ph.

question. How much vinegar do you mix? I always use a 1/1 and have been told that can damage seals.

I hate seals they taste like crap and walk funny. I boil vinegar and use it straight when possible. I often buy cleaning vinegar that is stronger if I must dilute it like with my skimmer.

did a much needed water change on both tanks, cleaned out my saltwater mixing container, very much needed to do that, it was pretty funky for some reason

I mounted a few frags (mostly zoa's) on my rock scape. Got my hand attracted by my over protective blood orange clown when I was near his clam.

Added a BRS C02 Filter. My pH was 7.8 topping out at 8.0. Yesterdays low was 8.02 high was 8.18
Where are you getting your media? Cheapest I have found is just over $2 a pound.

As far as purchasing a purpose built co2 reactor, you can make a DIY unit pretty cheap. Heck, mine is 95% materials I had laying around.

I have been looking at those on BRS.

I use a CaRx and I dose vinegar for nitrate reduction. My tank is in the basement also. Add it all up for me and I have low pH. I wanted to increase it but I don't wanna add kalk or buffers cause it would mess with my Alk which is stable at 8.5ish. First I ran a air hose thru the ceiling into the laundry room and outside for fresh air. That got me to 7.8 ish to 8.0. That's ok but not good enough for me. I still was not satisfied. Higher pH helps corals grow/indicator of photosynthesis yada yada yada... The CO2 filter is another way by using soda lime to remove co2. Fill up the canister plug the tube from outside to the filter and plug the other side to the skimmer silencer and then to skimmer. Hours later my pH is up and has not dropped below 8 since. I still want to play with it and see if I need the outside air tube or the silencer. My outside tube run is pretty long and the skimmer might not be as efficient sucking air thru that, the filter. Probably tomorrow I will disconnect the outside tube and see if it gets higher. I'm shooting for 8.2 - 8.3

I just got the BRS media. I'm looking for cheapest avail. I'm not much of a DIY'er so I just bought off the shelf but I did read you can make one very cheaply out of a soda bottle.

Cheapest media I found was soda lime from medvet.com. 43# for $90. Both times I have ordered from them the sodalime was back ordered and other took a week or so to get it

So what's the rub on the c02 scrubbers? Is the media pricey or hard to use? I'm really considering one but, I have learned in this hobby every item seems to come with a possible bad side. Is there any way to nuke my tank with it. I guess is what I'm asking :D
