What have you tasted??

I've tasted a few various foods.(just so you know, algae wafers are worse than flakes) I taste my saltwater when I can't remember wether or not I had actually mixed it up the previous day. I can't think of anthing else, but I'm sure there's more. I don't remember any accidents right now.
I must say though, for some reason, I think my pulsing silver xenia looks realy yummy. fry that stuff up. mmm...Dunno why, just seems appealing:)

All I've tried is nori, which hardly counts, as it is also human food. I can't say I enjoyed it, but I can see the taste being easily acquired. Tastes very very fishy and...I dunno, can't quite place it. haha

Things I tasted so far:
- tank water
- reef salt (terribly bitter)
- baking soda

Worst experience:
I accidentally licked some solid sodium hydroxide that apparently clumped up on the bottom of the tub when I wanted to clean some dead coral branches because I was wondering if it was a calcium deposit... I immediately went to the faucet to wash it off but didn't feel the tip of my tongue anymore that day.

While siphoning, I've had a mouthful of fish dugong. I've also tried the redalgae sheets as sushi wrap. It wasn't too bad. lol.

I hear lionfish tastes good. Still looking for a place that sells it though. I don't feel like paying $50 for one at the LFS only to get 2 tiny fillets off it.

I have eaten nori though.

I've done the nori, but thats basically people food lol. I gave a little to my dog just to see what he would do and he ate it no problem. In fact he liked it so much he found the package in my stand ripped it open and proceeded to have his fill :headwallblue:

If I am anywhere near my tank for more than a few min, I can taste salt on my lips and have tasted both freshwater and marine food. I have to say, marine fish food tastes better...

I taste the salt on my lips everyday driving to work after taking care of my tank. I can tell when I'm spending too much time on my tank because my lips get chapped, oh and my wife gives me the look lol!

Head on down to the beach, from jekyll island GA, down to the keys, and catch some yourself, I hooked 12 lions while fishing from shore and piers. Nasty little buggers to get the hooks out of. Seems many have escaped or been released, and they are becoming a huge nucience.

Man, I just don't know if I believe you guys about tasting the water to determine salinity. :)

try it. of course freshly mixed salt water ... not your tank water lol.

add salt, taste, test, then add more, taste, test, till you get to 35. there is a difference in the taste ... since its kinda bitter and salty, our tongue is sensitive to it, so you can actually taste the difference pretty well. do this 3 times, and by the forth time you can prety much tell what range you are in, with like +-5 PPT .

If anyone in this forum denies ever tasting anything from your tank, YOUR FULL OF IT!!!!! lol! Intentionally or unintentionally, some way or another you've tasted something.

You got to come to South Florida. There are few restaurants with lionfish on the menu :)

Bill, what restaurant is that? I haven't run into any serving lion fish. I would love to try it.
