i noticed with my blue t5 lights on tonight that my new piece of LPS coral is sending big strings of tissue out into the water. What are these and what is it doing? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Pink strings are most likely mesentarial filaments which are digestive in nature but are sometimes expelled when corals are stressed. Most often these are released through some part of the coral polyp when the coral has just been moved or if is stressed. It is common for corals to do this when added to a new aquarium and it is nothing to worry about.
