what is a smallish anemone for ocellaris to host?

I would like to get an anemone for my breeding pair of ocellaris (poor things are hosting a colony of hairy mushrooms for now) but want something that will not get as big as an RBTA.

Would love to try a carpet, but have read they can become huge in time.

Can anyone suggest an anemone that will not get larger than about 8 inches?

A Condylactis or sebae anemone will work. Also, some corals like frilly mushrooms, some lps and such will work in some cases.

Going to have to disagree on the sebae (( H. crispa )), they can/will get rather large. I had one many years ago that was well over a foot across -- it took up about 1/3 of my 75. And condies aren't natural hosting anemones.

I have read that they will not host condys, just what I have read though. I got a frogspawn and torch and am waiting to see what my ocellaris does with them.

BTA won't get too big...you can get one of those IMO

Going to have to disagree. The last one I had was about 15" across when I sold it, and it split regularly.

Can see in this picture how big it is (( 75 gal tank )), and it wasn't fully open. Right side of the tank.

If you can get a H. malu, it would be perfect. They only get to about 7-8 inches or so. At least mine only get to that size even with lots of feeding.

Thanks everyone! Plenty of of information here to sort through before I make a choice.

I have seen a pic of a flower anemone hosting a pair of percs.
I am not familiar with these but will be on the lookout for a colorful one.
Has anyone else had experience with ocellaris hosting Rock anemones?

I have seen huge Condys in the wild. How large will they get in a tank? And yes, I know, some clownfish are sluts will cohabitate with almost anything.

yea...ive seen them host frogspawns and ricordias...might not be a bad idea other than an anemone

Yup. Lots of options, but I want an anemone for them. They are hosting a hairy mushroom colony now.

Nope. I have another pair hosting a BTA now and it is WAY too big. It grew from 4" wide to 12" wide and 8" high in just a few months, and the tentacles (no bubbles ) extend up another few inches.

WOW, beautiful color? H. malu looks like the answer, but I would like to hear how big they get in other peoples tanks.

I'm going to keep doing some more homework before getting anything.
