what is my anemone doing?

he was hanging upside down like this
so i piked up the rock he is on to take the pic and put him back,

he was kinda like that yesterday also, but last night he puffed back up.

If your tank is 2 months old, it really isn't mature enough to support an anemone. Please return it.

tanks is 2 months old



also, one more thing i shoulda said, it was sucked into my SS powerhead and only got caught in the filter of it. it took it off and it got itself out. it was always looking perfect before this.

maybe post tramatic stress?

and my parameters have been like this since i have got it(aug 17th),and they do not change at all.

he will open and close it, its his mouth. it will go from open to close. and right now its like this again. i fed him some mysis around 5 today.

im not shure what is making him turn his mouth inside out but,



to have an anemone, all i read is that you need stable water params, no phos, LOW trates.
and everyone says PC's are fine for BTA's
MH make them hide from cooking under them.

yup, ppl have kept BTAs under PCs, but mine are totally loving my MH's! Does your anemone open its mouth wide like your picture showed very often? Was it stressed and unhealhty when you first bought it? It's true that they'll open their mouths to poop and shrink to expell water, but that's a mouth open wayyyy too wide, IMHO does it eat when you feed it? Have you tried feeding it some meatier things like shrimp or silversides? A good tentacle grip is always a good sign, despite the wide mouth ... oh, and I never feed mine when the mouth is open.

i fed him a full silverside cut in half last wednesday, and will feed mysis daily


yesterday, i put some mysis on him, some of it stuck and his mouth was open, so i gently sprayed it towards his mouth. a couple peices went in.

i cant remember if he closed up to eat it.


when i bought him he was nice and puffed up with his bubbles. about 3 days later was the PH incident. he was never bleached. and he moved across the tank last night.

currently he has some brown stringy stuff hanging off of him(poop?) its around his base and on the perimiter of him.


it has never had his mouth open like this till afer he got himself in the PH.
