What is the best choice in overflow's on a 6' tank

I am in the process of doing a custom AGE 72x30x21 (196 gallon) tank and i am unsure what the best way for the overflow is. The tank will be against a wall, so a full external is not a possibility. I will be using 2 MP40's for flow inside the tank.

Options are as follows:

#1 Standard 2 corner overflow

#2 LeeMar style overflow, 3 sided, centered in the back

#3 One overflow in either of the corners

#4 a small external 18"(with 2 drains and 1 return) on the upper right side, similar to a peninsula style, that would fit through a whole in the wall and exit into the fish room.

Just wondering what if you had the chance to do a new tank and with the choices above, what would you pick...

thanks for your help..

epleeds,

I had a similar situation - tank up against the wall, separate fish room. I went with two very large external overflows (2/3 the width of the tank), and will just cover the gap between tank and wall with the same material I skin the stand and canopy with.

It seems a shame to get an AGE tank and then end up with corner overflows, IMHO.

Out of the options you listed, the smaller external overflow sounds like the best option, although 18" may not give you the flow you want without being noisy.

Check out JoseCasas' AGE tank, I really like his overflows. They dont waste much space like a lot of overflows do.

Id go with one of those in the center of the tank. I like center overflows, just incase you want that wavebox down the road, or want to make waves with vortechs. Since the overflow is in the center, its always getting water down the drain, since its at the axis of the wave.

JMO, and I hope that helps.
