I am investigating a newer RO/DI unit to replace the one I have but I am somewhat confused by the offerings. I am particular with SpectraPure units but it is unclear what the difference is between these 2 units:

SpectraPure Spectraplus2000 90 GPD RO/DI

SpectraPure MaxCap RO/DI System, 90gpd w/ Pressure Gauge & Purity Monitor

and what i get for the extra >$100.

It would appear that the MaxCap produces slightly better water purity and comes with a dual TDS meter which the SpectraPlus does not have (but at a less cost)????

Are you able to shed some light on the differences?

Thanks,
Ken

I am a bit more confused; reading all the bits is appears that the 2000 unit is better wrt water quality; it just might be a little more costly to operate (and it doesn't have the TDS meter)? The MaxCap has the TDS meter but it may produce slightly less pure water in the long run (which is why the extra monitors).

Now I am even more confused?????

the MaxCap is the superior unit it's the only 18.2 megohm-cm resistivity capable unit. if you live in a location that has excessively high TDS then it's the best choice, i don't know the water quality in WA so do you happen to have your tap TDS reading??

Thanks for the reply.

I understand that there is a new ultra efficient model with a 1:1 water to waste being released within the next week; will MarineDepot be carying that unit do you know?

Hello

Thanks for the reply, as far as I know I haven't heard if we are going to be carrying this product anytime soon, our inventory changes frequently it could be an item that we may carry further down the line. If you like to PM me your contact information, we contact you if and when we do have it in our product line.

As far as you earlier question about the filter from what I have been reading the Max Cap sounds like the better deal, it has a new New Super Capacity 2-stage Deionizer a
First Stage revolutionary MAXCAP DIâ"žÂ¢ with 3.5x capacity of other mixed-beds out in the market the unit also includes two Dual Inline TDS meters, one to monitor RO Membrane performance and one to monitor MAXCAP and Silica-Buster performance to signal change required. This system provides ultimate removal of algae promoting substances, including colloidal silica, and has the longest deionizing cartridge life, significantly reducing the cost of operation. meaning you won't have to replace it often, of course this all usually depends on your water quality going into the unit.

I hope this answered most of your questions If I get any more information I'll be in touch, I'm not sure if you read the Spectrapure forum http://reefcentral.com/forums/showt...hreadid=1020296 but it may help shed a bit of more light.
