What is this and how do I treat it ?

Hi all

I have these white tubular structures growing on my hammer corals. I have been told they are coral worms and harmful and that I should remove them. I have picked them off over time and they peel away very easily. I have never seen any worms in or attached to them and despite this including dipping in revive coral solution they keep coming back and I suspect are slowly killing my corals. Any assistance would be greatly appreciate.

Thanks

How is your lighting and flow? The white line where the torches used to be is their skeletons. You may also be talking about their feeder tentacles. I was unable to see what you were talking about. Also please post your water parameters.

Oh I think I see them in the first picture , try a coral dip it's used to get rid of pests.

I have no idea what it is I'm supposed to be looking for. Perhaps a more in-focus picture, maybe even with the suspect in question circled would help. What I can see looks like a normal, if a bit retracted, hammer.

Agree, but I'd change that to very retracted - the first picture shows some dead skeleton.

Does that tube have the consistency of paper with sand glued to the outside? I had one of those in an Acropora colony but was never able to figure out if it was a worm or some other kind of critter that built that tube. I removed it whenever I could, superglued the holes in the coral base close it went through - all to no avail, as it always found a way to come back. It had its base in the rock below the coral which made it really tough to get to it. It ultimately died when the coral died.

I was "attempting" to be nice.:rolleyes::dance:

Is there a torch coral anywhere near? Although it, too, is a Euphyllia sp., they have long potent sweeper tentacles. That particular Hammer seems very unhappy for some reason.

Exactly that. Also keep peeling it away and keeps returning.

Correct some dead skeleton but I thought this was being caused by whatever this worm structure is. Flow is good, lighting good, KH 9, ca 450, mg 1400, salt 1.025, nitrates 2, phosphate 0. There is a torch but far away.
