what is this?

anyone have any ideas? i have two of them in my tank and i'm not sure what to do with them.

one person told me he thinks it's majano anemones. another just thought it's a bta bud.

My mother has Majano ALL OVER HER AQUARIUM. She has a 210 and they killed a couple thousand dollars in corals all she has left now is fish. I talked to the LFS about them, They said that Raccoon butterfly fish will eat them. They will also eat aiptasia. The long-nosed butterfly fish will eat them also but are more likely to eat corals. They are extremely hard to get rid of my Mom has baked her rocks in the sun, the second they hit the water they were back. I would find a solution quickly because they can and will wipe out your tank!!! hope this helps a little bit. (did not mean to scare you either)

i just bought a syringe and injected the two of them with super hot Kalk water. hopefully that will do the trick. i'll report back...

I mix up some kalk into a paste and the use a syringe to drop it onto the majano. I do the same thing for aiptasia.

nobody can decide if it's a BTA or a majanos.

seems like you would have the most experience Lincutis as you have a tank of majanos.

are you really confident it's a BTA?

or where is ur LR from if its from a place where you will find BTA's i would say its a BTA

tagging along. So is it a majano or BTA? My buddy may have a bright flourescent green one. The tentacles are mostly pointed but a few are starting to show a small bulge before the tip. It did survive a 4 hours trip out of water. With our luck it is so hardy it is probably a nuisance.

Actually BTA's are incredibally hardy. the often get destroyed by intakes but some how recover.

I assume the majano stays small. So if this anemone grows several inches it is a BTA?

Does majano have bubble tips? They are definitely bubble like and fully extended.

Yes, majano can have bubble tips and some come in very pretty colors such as rose and green with rose tips.

I woulld say its a majano. Even if it was a BTA its better to be safe than sorry.
