What is your "Favorite" LFS ?

Whenever I go down to Irvine I check out OC Aquatic. As for here I have mostly been going to Rainbow Pet, but haven't been to happy with their livestock lately. I've had a couple tangs and a copperband die randomly while everything in the tank is okay, same goes for tests. I'll be trying aquarium city or ocean pet next.

Seaside (Fishsupply.com) on Beach Blvd at Huntington Beach. Cheapest drygood prices anywhere. Most drygood prices are the same as Marine Depot. They just upgraded their livestock tanks as well

My favorite is Coral and Fish Center (Irvine).

i believe it is Santa Ana

what no Tongs or any of the other Tongs Family owned stores...i heard they own alot......or what about that store off the 55 Window to the Sea...jk...

i like CFC and Strictly

Ok guys, please fill me in. Where are crystal cove and coral oasis?

I would like to also cast another vote for pacific reef and seaside. Seaside has been around for years, but recently went from awful to awesome and pacific reef has the best customer service around.

Crystal cove is in Murrieta, here's their phone number and address.

Thanks for all the suggestions!!

Occasionally I like venture out of my immediate area (even if it's just to look) and try new FS's and usually end up spending hours. I especially like clean stores that are well-stocked with colorful corals, have healthy fish, and a nice reef display tank is "always" a special treat. Is that too much to ask for? :)

Thanks again!
:)

let me tell you, you will defiantly enjoy Crystal Cove if you ever make it out to this area, everything you described is what the store is, and more! You'll love their reef display tank, it's awesome. It'll be worth the trip.

Coral Oasis is nice.

As for Tong's their coral is nice looks like their price is a bit more reasonable. However their livestock sucks saw about 15-20+ died fish just laying around that just recently died. Hold "tank" are way too small and way way too overstocked. Good luck on getting health fish there.

Crystal Cove

Down here in Murrieta.

Bill always takes care of me.

Totally second this, so helpful and patient while I ask the four million questions I've had each time I go in while I am setting up my first SW tank. And the staff is really friendly.

i love strickly but alittle on the high side but i have never got a sick fish from there. And second for frags i go to pacific reef in torrance they have nice cheap frags also a good place to EAT next to pacific reef in torrance is the KOREAN BBQ place omg so much for and it a good price.

Sorry to be mean but I despise Strictly fish. I have gone there over the years and most of the time they are too busy watching TV to help you. Then what really made me mad is last week during their "sale" (yeah right) I bought 3x5gal jugs of saltwater. I carried 2 jugs while 4 of their staff watched as my WIFE CARRIED THE 3RD CONTAINER!!! They didn't even ask to help or get the door. That was the last straw for me.

Anyways, rant over, my favorite stores are:

Jeff's Exotic in Costa Mesa (have been super friendly and good prices)
OC Aquatic (cool, cheap frags)
Coral Fish Center (very nice people)

Wow tom you were there to for the sale huh. Same here i went on the last day of the sale and got three 5 gallons of RO. But the guy helped me load it in my SUV. Some times they help sometimes they dont i can say they help me 3 out of 5 times. there prices are high and when they have sales the prices are regular lol but ive been going there for a couple years and have good Live stock. only day i buy fish from them is on Wen because they knock off 25% off.
Sorry to hear they didnt help you :(

Yeah I was there on Saturday for the sale. I know we all have bad experiences at fish stores and I try not to judge based off of one bad trip, but I have just never had good service at Strictly. I just found it ridiculous that there were 4 people sitting around watching tv and playing with a dog while my wife struggles to carry 40 lbs of water out the door.

But to each his own, just sharing my experience so we can be better informed and try to keep our LFS honest.

Maybe someone that lives close by and goes there frequently can take a picture of the display tank and post it for the rest of us to see. If it is as nice as many of you say, it may "well be" worth the trip!

:)

If i had a camera i would gladly take tons of pictures of it for you, but unfortunately the wife left our camera at her mothers house, so it'll be awhile before i get that thing back, i'm sure someone else will gladly take some pictures that is near here.

Honorable Mention: The Giant Fish on Sherman Oaks/Encino. They are awesome (for dry goods) and have cool people.
