I really like the look of the yellow mimic tang. Someone had a video up a few days ago, and it was just stunning to watch.
What is your favorite tang?

I just got a nice tomini from local shop. He is awsome and has been eating everything I put in the tank.
Favs probably purple, yellow belly hippo, clown or chevron.

There has been a Gem tang available for several days now on NY aquatics if you want to drop a penny or twoI can't believe it is still there!

There is a Gem near me about the size of a 50 cent piece that has been avaliable for 2-3 weeks now. If I didn't already have a black tang I would pick this guy up. No room in my 120 for two tangs.

I have just put a gem with my black
The gem is 6cm and the black is 13cm
In a day the aggresion was gone
I have the black as only tang in there for a year before i added the gem
In a 110g tank
My favorite are my two Sub-Adult Vlamingis. Not a very good candidate for home aquariums. Plus they really only start to BURST with color when they become sexually mature and they are serious stunners.
But for normal tanks I think the Whitecheek tang is seriously under rated. I dont ever see them at LFS. Actually i dont see A. Japonicus or A. nigricans at LFS. Only online.
So:
1. Naso vlamingi - unreasonable but outrageous (see pic below)
2. Acanthurus achilles - GORGEOUS
3. Acanthurus nigricans (whitecheek)- Under-rated Beauty
4. Juvenile Ctenochaetus hawaiiensis- Beautiful as Juvies, average after maturity.

3,000 is the asking price. I have personally never seen one this small in roughly 20 Gem tangs I have seen.

Sohal.
So i am in the early stages of planning my stocking for my new 234 gallon tank. I want 2 tangs and i already have one so the second is a big decision, lol.
I LOVE my white tail bristle tooth tang, one of my favorite fish for a LONG time and it took forever to find him, but i want one more tang, so.......
If you could only choose 1 or 2 tangs what would they be?

Hahahaha, it took me 3 months to find one but when I did I pulled the trigger, and this one even has every color you could imagine in him INCREDIBLE!
I finally found him at nyaquatic.com
Not cheap at 160 but well worth it IMO
omgod lol... I haven't been lucky enough to snag one in stock yet but the highest I had seen was like 70-80 for it... but I guess if they're the only ones with one they can charge whatever they want lol

It's the same fish, no I can't personally guarantee that but with the right diet I'm sure the colors would get better. The one in the pic you liked I would say is more one off or possibly collected somewhere different then the one on DD??
