What is your T5 photoperiod?

Have a 48" x 6 bulb and I have 2 on from 10 am to 10 pm. Then the other 4 are on from 12 pm to 8 pm.

I have a 6 bulb Tek light. The 2 UVL actincs are on for 7 hours and the middle 4 bulbs (3X Blue+ 1X Aquablue) are on for 5 hours. I have seen way better colors and growth with a shorter photoperiod compared to the 10-12 hours I used to run a year ago.

75gallon, 46.5 inch - 3 T5's ( 12K ATI, Geismann Blue+[460nm], and 10K UVL aquasun ) and 1 110watt VHO actinic [420nm]

12 hours.

I'm aboard for this one.
I was just thinking if I'm running too long.

I have 8, T-5's over my 120. Was running them for 12 hours, but cut them back to 11 hours last week.
I was thinking about turning them down to 10 hours gradually.

Reviving an OLD thread...

The posts above are from years ago, so are people doing things differently now? What do successful people do now for photo-period and T5?

I'm running 4x39w for about 10hrs a day and just have frags right now. I'll be able to control the bulbs 2 by 2 soon, so would like to know what others are doing before I make a change to my photo-period.

Please post what you do now...

A lot of those photoperiods look way too long. I run a 6-bulb ATI Sunpower, 2 bulbs for 8 hours, 6 bulbs for 6 hours. Thinking of cutting it back an hour actually. Shorter photoperiod seems to promote better colors and growth in my experience, at least for sps.

Intresting times I had been running mine for 12 hours 2 for 12 hours and 4 for 10, I run a 6x54 NEP over my 55g. I just replaced all bulbs and cut it down to 2 for 8 and 4 for 6 and was working my way back up and I was thinking I liked them better at 2 for 9 and 4 for 7

I agree with the 12's and 11's seeming long. From what I have found tinkering with mine is that 10 hrs with 2 blue plus and then 7-8 hrs with remaining 4 seems tonpromote best depth of color. i have a 90g and all bulbs are overdriven. I also employee a 2-3 day blackout every other month

Wow, these all seem long!

I run my actinics for 8 hours and all bulbs for 6. It works well for me and I still have a little light color here and there as if its almost too much light.

WOW this is a 7 year old tread..... just shows you how this hobby have moved..... it seems as back in the days 12 hours is a norm.... now-a-days it's more like 8 hours..... personally I running a 48" 6 bulb fixture 8 hours for two bulbs and 4 hours for the other 4 bulbs. I've only switched to this photo period about 4 weeks ago and I've noticed color improvements in my SPS.....
