What kind and how many fish can I put in 8g. Nano?

Check out the tanaka possum wrasse, one of my favs for a small tank.

disagree. too big and too much of a swimmer for a tank so small. I will fight this misconception all over the internet. Mine covers every inch of my 66 gallon tank every 2 minutes. Putting him in an 8 gallon tank would be nothing short of abuse.

I actually called Marine Depot asking about a light and asked them if I can put a clown in an 8 gallon they said they have one in a 10 gallon and it's doing just fine since the Nuvo 10 was released :uhoh3: :fish1:

a lot of great suggestions have been provided. The only advice you have followed so far are from stores that's trying to profit off of you.

so I guess keep the clown and go on with your day. It's not impossible. It's just going to be more work for you and a shitty life for the clown.

I'd say get a baby blue hippo tang. Perfect for that tank.... Isn't that what most peeps do?

I bought a yellow belly from BlueZoo and it was half an inch!!! it didn't make it through QT but hell.. it'll fit a 8gal.:hammer:

So you mean this guy is not happy?:debi:

Nitrates 0 nitrites 0 6:31pm 5/25. I'm wondering if this is due to using real reef rock (the purple rock)?

So you mean this guy is not happy?:debi:

Well, how would you feel if you had to spend the rest of your life all alone in a 6 x 8 ft cell... solitary isolation confinement, that's basically what you are doing to this poor fish.
Isn't he punished enough by the fact that some greedy hacks messed up his genetics?

sorry if I came out like a dick, not trying to be mean. just trying to point this out to you.

you came here asking for expert opinions without bias. There have been several answers telling you to stick with a small goby, but you prefer the LFS's opinions. LFS is trying to make money off of you, we are not.. then you defend them with more retailer's opinions. so then why ask here in the first place?

this isn't your first tank and you seem to have been in the scene for awhile. You should know all about cycling and what it does to your clown. why hurt your pet. This is like a human living in a closet filled with smoke. Going to be a tough life.

How did your tang do in your 50gal in 2012. You are in the same situation again.

So took all in and made a call to my lfs and he's going to trade the clown in for a Pygmy Wrass and a clown goby, told me they will thrive in my 8g.

Clown goby is perfect. Amazing choice. I beg you not to get a pygmy wrasse. Mine is my favorite fish and I would cry if someone put him in an 8 gallon tank. He swims more than all of my other 9 fish combined. Get a firefish. They are gorgeous. Much cooler looking than a pygmy wrasse.

I would get a pair of clown gobies and maybe a pair of small shrimp gobies with a randalli pistol shrimp. For gobies to make pairs just put to together and they will figure out who becomes who.

I do think that Randal gobies can get rather large for a 8 gal. There are a lot of really beautiful shrimp gobies that are smaller and would fit perfectly in a 8 gal With symbiotic shrimp of course.
You can even add a brightly color Maxi Mini carpet in it and sexy shrimp. Two sets of symbiotic animals in that tank

Randall gobies get huge and are absolutely not suited for a nano tank.
I was thinking of Stonogobiops nematodes, S. yasha or S. Dracula - all rather small fish.
Though the larger one of my nematodes likes to go on excursions throughout the tank once in a while - it always scares me due to the gigs and other dangers he may run into.

Sold my 8 g Cadlights today and purchased the 20 g IM Nuvo from MD today. Bye 8 G cad lights it was fun for a week.
