I really like these 2 and want to add some to my future macro algae tank...are they hard to keep and how fast do they grow?

First is Neomeris annulata, the second looks like a type of padina, though its normally brown and the purple color may just be from the camera.

Neomeris is a calcified macro, slow growing. Many have difficulty keeping it alive longterm. Padina can be slower growing as well but isn't usually very particular as far as conditions it likes.

ooooooooo i got some Neomeris as a hitchhiker in my tank. It started with one, now there are like 8. Initially I thought it was a babymacro of another type and I was waiting for it to get extended. Thanks to this thread I know that's how they stay! :)

Question! they are on a rock in my nano. I'm planning to transfer corals to a new tank setup but I am not planning to transfer the rocks from that nano as I do not want bristles to get to my new tank. How do I move these macros without moving the rocks?

There's no way you're not going to get bristles in your new tank. My boyfriend thought he could do it with our 20L even though I told him otherwise, we have plenty in there now LOL. Ours came from frags even though they were dipped and QT'd for 6 weeks before going in the tank. Bristles are great clean up crew.

I don't know of any way to move Neomeris without moving the rock it's on.
