What kind of RO system do you run????

No - the copper pipe will screw right to the top of the fitting, just like it is screwed on the that chrome fitting now.

OK, all the stuff is here, and I must say, very exciting. This has been a thorn in my side since we moved. "What to do about the RO???".

Now all I have to do, is get my wife to give me an hour or two of time in the "ball busting free, zone" to get it all put together in the next day or so. Daughter turns 1 tomorrow, so, I'm guessing I won't get to it until the weekend....

(this is sort of a bump so I don't have to keep going back to look for this thread)

After getting all the pieces-parts, I'm actually thinking I would be better off with the unit under the sink. This would give me greater pressuer at the unit itself.

Question: Would this then, give me adequate pressure for the product to run into the floor, across the joists and back up into a collection container? Total run would be down 18 inches or so, across about 5 feet and up about 5 feet.

Mine has adequate pressure to travel up 9 feet with no additional pumps, so I think you'll be fine.

Mine runs further than that post di without any trouble. If the water container is higher than the ro unit, I'd put a valve in the line to the container so you can close it when you wan't to change out filters and such without water back flowing from storage.

Good Call Tom. It's going to run into a float valve auto shut off though. This back flow would only be a problem if the bin was full though, correct? Or are you referring to the back flow from the tubing line itself?

OK, so I've got the diverter installed on the cold supply line. All of the filters are changed. New 75 GPD membrane and flow restrictor are installed. Additional DI unit is in-line as well.

Just about ready to install the unit, BUT, there's an issue with the Auto Shut-Off.

My unit has this thing on it already:

Does this replace the one that's there already, or does it go some place else??

You already have an auto shut off installed. No need to replace it if it still works.

Unclip those horizontal DI stages and orient them vertically with bottom-up flow.

Looks like you have an inline GAC filter AFTER the two horizontal DI stages. Suggest you get rid of that inline GAC filter. The water is as clean as your system can make it after it leaves the second DI stage.

I'm gonna tag on to this thread with a quick question. What does the auto shutoff do? I have one on my setup too that I bought used from another reefer, but can't seem to figure out what it shuts off and why? Thanks anyone who can tell me about it . I'm going to guess mine's funcitoning fine as I get 1-2TDS out of my membrane without a DI, but would still know what it actually does...

The auto shut off valve (ASOV) senses when the flow of purified water has been stopped (for example, by a float valve), and the ASOV stops the flow of water coming to the membrane - which stops the flow of waste water automatically.

Questions;

You guys are sure it'll have enough juice to cross the floor and come back up? Total of 15 feet of blue hose/product (actually will be like13 or 14 feet. Drops down into floor and comes back up to about 3 1/2 feet in height where it'll enter the float/auto shut off.


Anyone know how to drill through tiles? I want to run an extension cord, the product line, and a small 3/4 in PVC into the floor of the closet. Do I need a diamond bit to drill through the tile?

Ready to go on line with this. How much of the water should I waste from the unit once I start it? Remember, all new resin, filters, and membrane.

Should I flush it all first for like 15 minutes or so?
