well im getting a clown fish that is WC and i want to be ready with any desises that they have. the last clown died from popeye and internail paristies too. i also do have a 10gallon QT. and i would rather not use copper cause i would like my clowns to breed if ever possible. so what meds so i get before i get the clown. thanks for anyhelp puffer21

First off, copper has been shown to NOT effect long term fucundity/productivity in clownfish or dottybacks.

2nd, if you wish to go w/ WC, then arm yourself with everything.

Formalin (freshest possible)

Internal parasite meds (both for flagellates and worms)

Copper (I'd recommend Cupramine)

Anti-biotics (min of three types)
1. Broad spectrum
2. Gram Negative
3. Gram Positive

A Hospital Tank w/ cycled biofilter

The ability and equipment to preform Hyposalinity treatments if needed.

Enough salt for massive water changes as needed.

Good test kits for water quality.

Good foods/feeds.

Dietary supplements (garlic, vitamins, AA, selcon, etc...)

That's a good start.

what are some brand names with the meds in it. that is what im try to find cause i cant really tell does masint2 have thoses med. thanks for the help and any more puffer21

Tagging along to this one. I was also wondering which meds can be stored fairly long term so I could just keep them on hand in case one of my fish ever got sick and not have to replace (and waste) them every month.

Agree with OAMA, I wouldn't worry about the copper thing, I use coppersafe and frankly without using copper your stuck with using formalin which is seriously toxic stuff (to fish and humans)
I would check out the disease forum for more info.
In most cases you will be fighting a disease called brook aka clownfish disease so read up on that one.

im treating my clown with copper safe and maracyn 2 right right now and they saved my fishes life.

she had fin rot, her cheeks were swelled, she was breathing very heavy and staying at the surface, dident eat for 4 days, had funk on her lips and fins

with advice from RC my fish is healing very nicely, eating, and looking 100% better. 5 more weeks to go......

well congrates i had just lost a fish to popeye and internail paristies because i didnt have meds. so now im want to e prepared with anything that can happen

Your link is for an antibiotic (Maracyn Two). It will not have an effect against internal parasites.
It is, however, a very good gram (-) antibiotic. And is often used to treat pop-eye.

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but how would you dose the QT with all the different medication? would the water become a medicine soup for the fish to swim in? does some of the medication do the same thing such as formalin be used to treat ich and copper to treat ich and vice versa?

what would be the bare minimum of medication i would have to buy to cover the majority of marine diseases?

would the list be (based from above info to treat WC from OAMA ):
1. formalin
2. Cupramine (copper)
3. Marcyn (gram positive)
4. Marcyn II (gram negative)
5. Prazi Pro

Also, what concentration percentage of formalin should I buy? At petsolutions.com they offer one that is 3% and another that is 37%.

Thanks in advance and sorry for the bombardment of questions.

If your using mardel products, you can use all of them at once. With every mardel medicine it comes with a big chart and explains it all.

Coppersafe and maracyn 2 are in my hosp. tank right now. My fishes maracyn treatment is over today, shes recoved fully. you can also add the maroxy, and theres another one for fungus...
