What next....orange eggs all over the rock

Hello,
I am sure this has been answered 1000s of times but I have not found it. My Clarke Clowns laid eggs today on a piece of live rock they have been cleaning....I cannot move the piece of rock out to a rearing tank. Is there any hope of raising some of the fry?

I just found the FAQ section on rearing eggs...I do not see how to remove the post. Thank you. Back to the tank.

No need to remove the post, add some pictures of the parents, the eggs, keep track of the event instead :)

Welcome to the clown breeding club :)

If this is the first time they have laid eggs, I wouldn't try to raise them. But if you intend to, use this time to research and prepare. Their first few batches of eggs are usually not up to par, as they are still learning.

Good luck to you, and yes, post pics!!

Do not feel compelled that you have to raise the fry. You can just continue letting them do what they do best and enjoy watching.
But if your wanting to do this then be prepared for a bit of work and lots of enjoyment at seeing the babies grow.

If you start this up I could probably supply you some rotifers to start.

Baalz,
I might take you up on the rotifers....
The eggs made it through the 2nd day so now it gets interesting.
This pair laid eggs for several months before I had to move the tank and this is the first time in about a year....or at least the first I have seen.
I had some tiles in the tank hoping they would use them but took them out a few months ago.

Place a tile about 4"x4" rough side facing outwards right on the spot they spawned on the day after this current hatch. If you can lean it against some rock work that works real well. I have always been able to get my ocellaris to lay on tiles. They love the surface.

The clowns are still tending to the eggs. The eggs have turned from bright orange to a dark orange and mostly black. Where they are at, behind my live rock is very hard to see. I am expecting them to hatch over the weekend.

Well...last night I thought they were going to hatch...dark eggs with gold colored eyes...this morning, they are all gone...I do not know of something else ate them or if they hatched and were eaten or sucked into the filter. I looked all over the tank and do not see any.....bummed

You gotta get them out the night they hatch with the flashlight method.

If you don't have it, BUY WILKERSON's Clownfishes!!! The best written compilation of knowledge and a nice part on breeding. Many people don't mention this book, but it has much more detail on the subject: Frank Hoff's (I foget the exact title, but it's something like: ) The conditioning, rearing, and spawning of maine fished with emphasis on clownfishes. Look up Frank Hoff conditioning spawning and you'll find the book.

These fish are messing with my head...I came home from work today and there is another batch of bright orange eggs...only 36 hours after the others were eaten.
