I am getting back in. I picked a 34 gal Solana with custom overflow and sump. Dual returns 1.5" durso drain, nac 3.5 skimmer. What return pump would you use? Im used to using big external pumps.

I am running a Sicce 3.0 in my Solana, it's way overkill. I have the baffle on the front to adjust flow set all the way down. I had to valve it down on top of that. A 2.0 would probably work great if you'd want a Sicce.

I like rio 10hf in my 29 gallon drilled, its at 4ft of head and works nice. Silent. Had it running for 3 years now.I also have the same skimmer, but the knock off version sc-301, same pump/body etc. There are higher quality pumps like a sicce or ehiem, im sure they are great too...i know you prob know but you want a pump at your given head height, that matches or is close to your skimmer pump output.

I was using the Reef Octopus DC550 and have since upgraded tot he RO DC1050 for my return. Nice pumps and the controllability is sweet. No heat in the water and they are pretty much silent. JP

Im building one of these guys too and I was getting ready to ask the same question.

I think I am going to go with the Sicce 1.5

Adam good luck with your build, what kind of light are you going to use?

Going to reconfigure one of my diy add some colors. Make them full spectrum.

Just use a Barracuda pump and you could have a blended reef instead of a mixed reef.

I would love to get another jeep Phil, but not in the budget anytime soon, because I wont be building a jeep again. I would build a 4 seat buggy.
