yea pictures dont do these guys any justice. They do add soo much color in your reef tank and their coloration is really nice. You would be surpised. They can look really dull and bland in fish books but once in your tank they do look a lot brighter, they really stand out.

I believe it - it's shows in your photos - spectacular pair!

the male is probably about 3" and the female is probably about 2&1/2". they are pretty fat and chunky.

Cool and nice size... Got a 3 inch one before... Cant seem to get pair in our area... Would be a sight to have a pair of multibar in a tank...

Are they eating froozen foods or just picking at the rocks? Most of them that ive ever seen come in to LFS never eat frozen foods. Also what type of reef do you have. I know I had a Venustus for a few months and I upgraded from PCs to T5s and it died b/c they were too bright and it never came out of the rocks...

I have an sps dominated tank but I re-aquascaped some of the live rock in the tank to make a few caves.. they like to hang out on the right end of the tank and the females like to hang out in a cave on that side. She does come out but pretty shy. The only time she does come out is when the male comes around to check up on her and she just swims upside down in the cave. They seem pretty happy.
as far as what I feed them, I feed them Arcti-Pods from ReefNutrition and live Brine. I also have a clip of seaweed that they pick on from time to time, but they love the Brine and Arcti-Pods.

Great thread Guys!!!

NBD13 has gotten me hooked on rarer fish now and looking at this I have a good idea of what I want to get.

Nick I need to get some Multibars for my own tank along with those carlsoni's next month :)

xanthic Regal recently sold in Japan

xanthic Regal recently sold in Japan

I always thought the xanthic Regal Angel was a unique fish. Browsing the website of a Japanese shop, however, I see that one was just sold!

Dr Tanaka, do you know about this one? Origins, where it went, how much did it go for?

Droool. They have or had my all time favorite rare angels, St. Pauls Rock Queens and Genicanthus Personatus.
Does anyone know if the St. Pauls Angels ever make it to the US or how much they are going for in Japan?

I wonder how much Peppermint Angels, Centropyge Boylei are going for now days? And have the had any luck breeding them in captivity?

I asked my supplier in Hawaii for the Peppermints and they were going for 10+K for Retail price. HTH

No one is getting peppermints in Hawaii as of lately. I dont think Boyle is collecting them anymore or atleast hasn't for a while. I think he is in the Cook islands collecting. Im not sure though.

10K damnnnn. that is pricey. lol

nice pair of multis. I got in a few from Marshalls that did wonderfully. they are easier then everyone makes them out to be. mine ate right away.

Ok

last time I spoke/wrote on here to Nextdog they were about 5k I think, I see they are now double the price. I guess when I retire with 3 million in gold, they'll be 60k, lol. I think I'll try the multibarreds and see if they will exist with me flamebacks, cherubs and creams. A crazee mix huh?

Hi Nick,

This is about the only other site I go to once in a while. There's a bunch of others but I think I've lost the links as I don't see them in my bookmarks anymore....

Peppermint has to be in the top 3. The price tag is usually around $10,000 for one (at least here in Japan).

Are any of these considered rare:

http://natyu.ne.jp/fish/sakana01.html

Those first two I've never seen before and the price tag is about $1200.

Wow that's the highest price I've heard of for a fish. Maybe I don't do enough reading :P.

I don't know if you guys know, but why are those fish so expensive? I assume they are sold legally, and therefore, they aren't endangered species.
Is it because they're not in typical collection areas and/or hard to catch? I mean some of them aren't THAT nice looking ("that" is a relative term though".
