What salt do you use and why?

As the title says what type of salt do you use and why?

Just set up a new 100g RR. Used brightwell aquatics salt and after 1 day I ran some tests and my CA is at 360 DKH is 7.6 and Mag is 1170...

Seems low to me for only being a day old. Even before I set up this new tank I used BW salt and even with bi-weekly water changes and doing 2 part daily via dosing pumps I had a heck of a time keeping my DKH above 8.

So I'd like to hear your opinions.

Reef Crystals!! Has good high calcium and mag levels and decent alk levels.....i would suggest a salt that is formulated for reef setup so that you are always high on calcium and mag....dont be dumbfounded by all these so called better salt mixes... a lot have only been around for a short time and the most expensive is not always better......except for tropic marine pro reef it is very good but i dont think it is worth the money compared to reef crystals.....best salts i have seen are reef crystals (cheap) and tropic marine pro reef (expensive) hahaha

Tropic Marine Reef pro, because when I test it after mixing I always get high calcium, mag and alcality. My system is only 100 gal so price is not that important to me.

D&D is very good
But currently I use instant ocean since I don't do water change and my tank is mostly lps

ESV salt mix...after almost a year of mixing 200g a month...I have yet to need to clean my 55g mixing barrel or powerhead ...something I could never say when using Reef Crystals!
ESV mixes clean, cuts down on dosing, able to use immediatly if necessary, and makes a true 200g at 1.026...I think RC makes ~170g from it's '200g' box?

Reef Crystals because it's cheap for me. I used to use Red Sea salt but the place where I bought it stopped carrying it...

+1 on reef crystals leaving a mess in my mixing barrel though.

Instant Ocean also. I started out with it and have never seen a reason to change as of yet. My parameters fluctuate very little batch to batch. It does leave a brownish residue inside my mixing barrel over time though.

reef crystals. it has been consistent for me. I never get the sediment at the bottom of the mixing container. the one thing that I different is that I warm the water up to 80 degrees before I add the salt.

I would have to recommend Reef Crystals. good results on calcium alk and mag. Most stores carry it and does not break the bank!!
