What salt do you use?

I used to use oceanic natural sea salt, and from what I have read it has a lot of calcium.

I am making another gallon of it to do a water change soon.

I stopped using it a couple months back, and my corals stopped growing (except xenia). I was using instant ocean instead.

So, I am going to do another water change tomorrw when this water is ready, and see the difference.

What salt do you use?

Thanks capn! I was looking for that.

Oceanic has the most calcium and magnesium out of all the other salts.. is that a good thing?

It depends on the draw by your corals. If you have corals that are depleting those levels fast then you want to use that particular salt mix in your water changes.

Some reefers have no choice but to use well water that is high in alk for eg---then using a high alkalinity salt mix could cause problems in extemely high alk levels

just a few egs where this is important

I was using oceanic and am now going to switch back to IO and raise the mag. and cal. levels myself.

for some reason the oceanic was buring my corals every water change.

I was using oceanic and it raised my calcium up to 550 I switched back to IO. Calcium started to drop and now i'm at 450. Now i'm using about a 70/30 mix between the two 70 being the IO.

Tropic Marin Pro Reef. Most complete salt mix available, get the big bucket that makes 200 gallons, it'll be more economical in the long run (available form MArine Depot).
