What Say You??

Has anything been posted in any other of the popular forums almost every person I spoke to at the MR swap a few weeks ago hasn't even heard of NERAC. Without stepping on any toes what can I personally do to help spread the word.

I know we have posts on MR, Facebook and Twitter about it but not sure where else Onkar has put up posts. We've sent emails to everyone in the club about it as well, with only half the members even opening the messages.

Easiest way to help is mention it to others, here are the popular links.

Any help spreading or how to get the word out is greatly appreciated.

As a side note our members are notorious for signing up to every event a few days before, the problem with this is when we involve others (vendors or catering) they want to know how many people are attending so they can prepare. Without early sign ups we cant tell them plus some events have a minimum attendance, if we don't meet that we either have to pay for the minimum or cancel the event early enough so we're not charged for canceling.

What can the club do to attract more members, while simulataneously assuring the numbers?

I have suggestions, if anyone cares to listen?

I've been talking with Sal privately. I made some recommendations.

Would it be better to have a public discussion about ideas?
I know you've been involved with the club a long time and I don't want to step on anyone's toes.

I have a suggestion, and since I'm not a current member I can't post in the member forum. Currently the conference costs $15 before any add-ons. Why not raise yearly dues by $10 and automatically register everyone for the conference. I'm sure you will more than make up the $5 just by the volume of $10 registrations. Plus more people may feel they should attend since they already paid for it. Hopefully they will then register for the add-ons earlier. If you still need to show numbers you can put a time limit on the "prepaid" registration. Perhaps "you must activate your prepaid registration 60 before the show. I know this doesn't help you this year. But maybe consider it for next year.

We could do that but even free admission is no guarantee members would go, family fun day is a great example. Free admission and we only see half the club attend, yearly membership to the club is less than admission to the aquarium.

Too bad a particular speaker that helped with the record crowd last year was unavailable...(or at least I am assuming)
