What should be my first DSLR?

Like nickb mentioned, it varies. When I was first looking, it was at 25%, then when it went to 30% I had to pull the trigger. You maybe be able to find a coupon for ebay. If I see something i'll let you know.

Just got back from messing with the XSi again... hehe I wanted to mess around with the liveview feature and see what all the fuss is about. And now I know! At 10x magnification, it REALLY helps you dial in the manual focus! What an AWESOME feature! Now I really can't wait!

BTW I am looking at macros... is the Tamron 90mm a good macro? Staying within a modest budget, is there a better macro for the $?

Canon 100mm Macro is the way to go IMO.

I have the Canon 100mm macro and it would be tough for the Tamron to beat it. Resale is much better on the Canon. I bought mine used for $340 I think.

Now that you are in the canon club, check out www.photography-on-the.net. It is a great photography forum in general and it is geared towards canon gear. Lots of stuff for sale there too.
