Need to get a TDS meter, what do people recommend? Online reviews seem all over the place ...

Do people frequently check their RODI water? Just got a unit and curious ...

Thanks

I got one from Walmart on the RV section. I think it was $20 so far it's been really accurate. Works for me .

If you find someone near you with one I say just take them a sample on a clean cup with a lid because even the smallest spec of dirt or drop of water can change the reading lol where are you located ?

Got mine from BRS. I have a dual meter on my RO and a handheld for spot checking. I think it's HM-Digital.

First I got a hand held TDS. But now I got the Tunze 8533 which can measure between the membrane and DI column and after complete filtration. Like that I know when either of the components is used up and exchange in time. I am really happy with that purchase. The handheld unit is still useful to test water that was standing around for some time and to know the TDS value for water coming out of the tap (to see if the membrane still removes 95%).

TDS meter for your new RO/DI will be very important. As some on here have recommended, a dual TDS is very valuable. One measures out of the RO membrane. The other measures out of the DI (what actually goes into your tank).

To measure if your membrane is putting out the 90 something percent, you can either buy a handheld or do what I do. I pull one of the TDS probes (from the dual I already have) out and measure my tap water in a cup. That gives you that reading.

For an RODI unit inline TDS meter, ideally you want a meter with THREE probes. One each for 1) feed water (tap water) 2) RO water, and 3) DI water. There is only one 3-probe TDS meter on the market - the HM Digital TRM1.

The two-probe inline meters were designed for use with RO systems, not RODI systems.

Be careful with the super cheapie handheld TDS meters you can find at Walmart, etc. In nearly all cases those meters do not have Automatic Temperature Compensation (ATC) and are not suitable for use with RODI systems.
