Hi Guys,

I have a SPS only and my temp. is about 82-83 F and my SPS are very nice

What temp do you guys use ?

Regards

Is there an upper limit that is considered too dangerous? I always thought that 83 was rather high and that 79-80 was much safer.

On natural reefs, sustained (several month) periods of temperatures above 29C (84F) have caused bleaching of some coral.

80 - 81 for me. I've got a neptune that turns on fans if the temp gets over 80.5 and then turns on another fan @ 81 Great at keeping temp stable.

If I could keep one temp I would shoot for 78-79F.

I keep it between 77.5F-82F mainly due to energy costs.

78-80 for me with a chiller, and fans. I think stability is more of an issue than the exact temperature, though.

80-84. Weatherman, what coral species displayed bleaching events at this temp? What is odd is that this is still within the normal range of most reefs.

After talking to Gavin at PAF (pacfic aqua farms) I now run mine around 75. When I was at PAF last I think the water was about 73.
