Once its gets hungry enough it will lean towards flakes or nori sheets... I have had two and both took a few months before they started eating. I have heard though of them starving to death.
How long has the tank been set up?
Borrow an algaed rock from your lfs, promising to return it clean. He might take to macroalgae as a stopgap, but probably not caulerpa, which is mildly poisonous.
tank has been set upfor a year.. i bought the blennyu at about 1.5-2 inches.. now its 3.5-4 inches its always been fat, but now that i have no algae its skinny.
It's also very hard to get a starving fish to change diets: a fat one is likelier to have a bigger appetite. The only fishfood that might tempt him is pure spirulina flake.
My lawnmower blenny eats frozen Formula 2. He cleaned my tank after 3 weeks of having him and he immediately took to the frozen Forumla 2 after all the algae was gone. I tried nori and seaweed sheets, but he has never taken to them.
