What to set my heater to for hot weather?

Hey guys just checking what do you set your heater to and hotter weather? These past few days which gets around 83 in my house my tanks will also go up to 83. I had my heater set to 79 degrees for winter and it kept a very stable but now I'm afraid with Summer - since it will already be at 79, the hot weather will just take it up higher until maybe 86 and hotter.

No fans or Chiller running just wanted to see what to set this to first?

My fear is if I set it to be 76, the tank still might bump up to 86, and now having 10 degree fluctuations in a 12 hour period.

Qt: 10gal covered with plexi ( has holes drilled into top)
Dt: 55gal with canopy, open on back

PS; if you STILL can't moderate that heat, get a fan kit for your tank. That'll knock it down, sometimes too much.

Your heaters shouldn't turn on on hot days. I have mine set at 75. When it's hot heater won't turn on if you have a proper temp controller.

I was thinking of setting mine around somewhere there, but I just figured it would kick on at night if needed

This ^^

And cool your house, man. Mine is 72-73 during the day and 69 at night... in Houston. :D ;)

My heater is set at 78 I have a fan blowing across the water in sump. Temp in tank use to get up to 82 with the fan running it drops the tank to 77 and heater comes on and brings it back to 78/79. I have my fan set to come on when lights come on

It's a bit of trial and error. Using a fan to increase evaporation and cool the tank works fine, though of course it's a function of ambient humidity. I set my heaters nominally at 78 degrees throughout the year, and I run a fan if needed in Summer (I keep my house at 77 with AC) with apex turning them off at 79 so I don't have devices 'fighting'. Absent fans, tank gets to about 83 max, so I've got 5/6 watts of devices.

I don't use a heater in my tank. It's consistent at 78. I keep the house steady at 73 and it helps keep tank steady

I live north heater at 77
I remove it in summer let nature take over. Summer tank temps will reach 85 or less.
Put heater back when temps start to drop. It's a slow rise and drop in temps so nothing to worry about.
