what ttype of clowns did I buy

Sorry, to clarify my earlier post, most clowns in captivity are likely to host in just about any anemone you have. I was trying to say, if you are interested in matching a clown pair to what they are likely to host in the wild, you need to know what clowns you have. If you don't care, then you don't care, I have no problem with that. I do, however still believe you want to get an accurate ID of your pair for accurate sizing and choosing tank inhabitants. I have my black saddleback in a 26 gallon tank. I would love to have a goby/pistol shrimp pair, but she is mean and I would never see them. False percs, this would not be an issue. So for the little tank I got a yellow candy hogfish instead, and frankly she still bullies the hogfish, but it is fast and has hiding places.

Oh, and I have read in a few places, RC included, that many people that have tried to place a carpet in their tank were very sorry. It will eat anything it can get. There are many threads of people losing tangs and butterflies to these guys. It isn't everyone, but it was enough to discourage me. Also, apparently the carpets will occasionally munch clowns that try to host, especially if they are percs or false percs.

Again, not that this will happen, but it might.

I have Dark Brown Saddlebacks. I have a GBTA and a S. haddoni. The Carpet is the only thing hosting the clowns. They dont even notice the bubble tip. As for getting a carpet anemone I would really think about it. I would try one in less then a 75g. Mine is rather large and in a 55g. It has claimed the lives of a decent amount of fish as well as some tank-raised clowns. Thats how I ended up with the saddlebacks.
