Thanks!

looks like hair and bubble algae. also aiptasia in there. Take the rock out and cook it without light for several weeks/months. Or feed less, shorten light schedules, and frequent water changes. Or search for how to fight algae.

Thanks, i will shorten my light sched and i have already started to feed less. I am also working on the aiptasia, got rid of most of it.

thanks for the answer!

You are going through a normal phase for you tank. Do you have any CUC in there? Liker hermits, snails, anything like that? Also is your tank near a window? I know I had really bad hair algae when I first set mine up. I got 5 turbo snails, a couple redlegged hermits and let them have a blast in there. Everyone is still alive and kickin or rather eat like I want them to be. Dont put any kind of chemicals in your tank. It will kill off all kinds of bacteria that you want in there. Wait until a year is up before you put things that kill off cyano or anything like that. Also on the aiptasia take a small amount of LR epoxy and press it over it really well. That will seal the little bugger in and you dont have to worry about them reproducing. Shortening the lights works for some people and not for others. I will tell you that a CUC will clear it up in a heart beat lol. I went from hair algea everywhere in the tank to have a small amount on 1 rock to none in about a weeks time. I didnt get too many snails cause I didnt want to over load the system. Good luck

Allanira, I have about 20 blue and red leg hermits, 6 turbo snails and 2 peppermint shrimp at this point. i am going to add about 4 more turbos to build up mu cleaning crew. I want t get a couple cleaner shrimp soon to help out. I do think i had my lights on to long as by MH were on for about 12 hours, i cut that back to 9. This was an established tank of 2 years or more before i moved it to my house. it came with a red slime issue an the aiptasia but the algae is new since i got it.

thanks for the pointers!
