Hello clam experts,
I have a 50gallon reef 36x18x18 with 2 96 watt blue actnics and 2 96 watt 10,000k lights. I really would like to get some type of clam with the lighting I have now. Any suggestions on clam type?
I have rocks stacked so that I could put one 2 or three inches from the surface if I had to. I think that corcea's would definietly be out, I was thinking maybe squamosa or maximas. Not sure about dersa's. Any help would be great!!!

I have the exact size of tank you have and I have the same amount of pc you have as well, Currently I have 1 crocea, 1 maxima, 1 gigas, 1 squamosa, and 2 derasa clams. They are all doing well. All clams are on the sandy substrate except the crocea and the maxima, both are up on the rock work about 3" below the water level. I think most people on this forum would against crocea and maximas for set up like ours but sofar all my clams are doing great. I dose live phytoplankton every other day for suppliment.

Not enough light for long term health of Maximas and Croceas like Steve said. You may be able to keep them alive, but they are not going to thrive under those conditions.

Thanks for the replies, maybe I will try a squamosa up towards the top of my tank, I think they need less light.

Hey, The steven liu what else do you have in your tank? I have some green star, and zoos and a torch that isnt doing to well. Just wondering what kind of corals you have had success with under our type of lights.
